“1st Steps”

I used 2 think my prayers went unanswered,
cuz I couldn’t find a way 2 decipher
between my wants & needs,
all the while I could feel my light dimming,
like a flawless diamond
still trapped inside the coal, black & bold,
my soul is growin’ old,
but adventure stubbornly calls my name,
its different but the same,
ain’t it all significant?….

Ha ha… cliched,
I used 2 think she would be waiting,
aching 4 my arms,
captivated by my charms,
what was I smokin’ 2 get it so wrong?
Hey hey… sliding down that slippery slope
is like goin from trees 2 coke,
but there was no euphony,
no harmony within my troubled being,
what a turbulent scene
2 need… 2 have… 2 see that I ain’t me.. yet…
